Auckland, 16 June 2020 – The Ford Mustang GT Black Shadow Fastback brings greater personalisation to customers with a bold, athletic look in eye-catching colours. Dealers are now taking deposits for the limited number destined for New Zealand.

“The Mustang is an icon and also one of the most personalised vehicles in New Zealand,” said Ford New Zealand Managing Director Simon Rutherford. “Customers have been asking for more ways to customise and individualise their particular vehicle, so we’re pleased to offer more ways of doing just that with the eye-popping Black Shadow limited edition.”

The Mustang GT Black Shadow Fastback gives the Fastback model a unique look. The pack, exclusive to Fastback GT adds:

  • Black painted roof
  • Black bonnet stripes
  • Black side stripes
  • Unique ten-spoke dark-finish 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Black grille Pony badging
  • Black 5.0L guard badging
  • Recaro Seats
  • Black Performance Spoiler

“The Black Shadow takes the Mustang GT Fastback to another level,” said Mustang Chief Program Engineer, Carl Widmann. “It gives the classic Mustang lines a sinister flavour that really adds a raciness and competition look to it and harks back to some of the graphic and decal packages that we’ve had in the past.”

Heritage Hues: Mustang’s paintwork that pops

The Ford Mustang GT Black Shadow will be available in limited numbers in New Zealand but customers are now able to reserve their own at a local Ford dealer today.  They will be available in four colours: Velocity Blue, Magnetic, Race Red and a heritage colour, Grabber Lime.  One of a number of heritage colours, which in New Zealand had previously included Grabber Blue and Dark Highland Green, the ‘Grabber’ paintwork was first offered in North America on early 1970s Mustangs and is the inspiration for Grabber Lime.

“It’s lime green on steroids,” said Barb Whalen, Ford colour and materials manager. “This colour traces back to a Mustang heritage colour while bringing it forward with more modern, dynamic pigments and bold new energy.”

“These bright, vibrant retro colours are trending in design – in home furnishings, sportswear and even appliances,” said Whalen. “Aspirational and confident, they are fun, youthful colours that make a statement of how you want the world to see you and who you want to be. And your car is an extension of that.”

The Ford Mustang GT Black Shadow Fastback is available to order from a Ford Dealer today. With numbers limited, dealers are now accepting deposits for customers.

The Recommended Retail Price for the 2020 Mustang GT Black Shadow Fastback is $87,990*+ on road costs.

*Please note, this pricing is GST inclusive but is Recommended Pricing only. The offer price of any vehicle or option is entirely at the discretion of the Dealer. Prices shown exclude On Road costs.
